Sony to Amazin

So, UBS finished a year later in 2014, at the end of May. A bit of a shitty ending, the work ran out and I was bored stiff but they were pissed that I called it a day! after a week in Paris, I started with Sony as a full timer, working up in Cambridge as a knowledge enginer! Most if my time, I worked from home, pissing about with ontologies to improve their developer portal. But it was a fairly disappointing time, as no one really seemed interested in the work I was doing, least of all me! In 2013 I was approached by Amazon and in Sept, after a couple of weeks back in Croatia, I presented myself at the Slough office, for a 6 month project. One year on, I'm still here, having accepted the role of senior information architect full time. I've been to Seattle , Cork and Edinburgh so far for various training and meetings. There we are, up to date. Where next, if anywhere? Come back in 3 years time!

2011 just about

Still here. that contract came off and is now the NHS Choice website complete with fully functioning ontology from me. Then is was 8 months of Hell at RBS. Total waste of time but managed to pay off the car and go to Montenegro for our summer holiday. Did a small bit of work for the new Harry Potter website Pottermore! which was fun. Now at UBS, been here for nearly a year and going ok.

one day a weeker

I'm down to working one day a week at the moment - waiting for a new contract to start, that's like, 3-4 weeks behind schedule. The missus is getting a bit worried now and saying to me, tell 'em to get a move on or you'll get another contract! and I'm like, er, hello! recession on, no jobs love! I've nothing else to turn to, I have to wait on this, my one and only contract godammit!
sigh. How did it ever come to this?

Yes! windy, northern cleethorpes - get ready for me! as I am coming to see you this bank holiday weekend for some windy camping fun. I gotta do something, and cleethorpes is it.
Right now, I have 2 ipods, 1 itouch, one psp, 2 phones and a portable DVD player all charging up like fuck ready to be played on route and/or in the tent over the next few days. I've even downloaded a rented copy of a recent film to play on my iTouch - which will be novel but it's taken hours to bloody download from iStore.
Another wasted week at work - having been given training on our new search engine admin features, we are all now more clueless then before as to how to do mash-ups, spot lights, classification and everything else we've promised senior management we'd be able to do once we'd bought £100k worth of searching software - good job I am a contractor, so won't be around for much longer with any luck.

its been a long time...

so, where was I? - oh yeah, lost all my mates - most have left the country to avoid me and if I believed one mate, still here unfortunately, it's all my fault. Still, I am enjoying the peace and quite actually...no really.
I was out last night with the one remaining so-called mate, we actually started at 3:30 with me already 2 pints in from a previous meeting. By 7:30 i was done in and ready for home, still good to catch up.
Glad to be still working in these very worrying days, my present employer having extended my contract until oct means I can finally pay off my tax from last year and with any luck afford a holiday to Croatia in Aug. but in this world, there's nothing guaranteed.
My sister and oldest mate are coming over later, so I'm off for a lay down to summon up some energy. laters.
