Confession

Umm well, look, the thing is, was yeah...oh god...So, anyway I came back from France and started the new job with the police and within minutes I knew I'd made a terrible mistake! The guy who interviewed me had quit and the project I was recruited for cancelled and the whole programme of work had stopped pending a review. Nice. So, for 5 days I sat alone, at my desk, with no phone or PC, twiddling my thumbs with no one taking any ownership for me....sob...So, long story short I quit. By mutual agreement.
And for 4 weeks I've been pursuing other opportunities while trying hard not to notice the worsening news on the telly. I had 2 interviews, 2 offers, so not a bad average really but one was dependant on that company securing a couple of major new contracts so I had to go with the employer who actually had work for me to do and could start me quickly.
So, here I am, in the new gig, health care again, but hey-ho! the money is very good, it's taxonomy driven project for a new health information portal, so it's all good interesting and familiar stuff.
Lessons learnt though, don't leave a job unless you have a new job to start, not promises of a job. Leave your principles behind when you have mouths to feed and mortgage to pay. Listen to your gut instincts when it tells you a job sounds dodgy....hmmmm what else, Oh yeah, don't leave a well paid secure job during the worse economic climate since the 1930's. Jesus.
Needless to say the so-calleds had a field day at my expense.
